Gloomy Thursday Brownies

I was feeling gloomy on a Thursday.

Nothing bad happened; it was just one of those days.

I just used that semicolon correctly, thanks for asking.

These were just right for cheering me up. I guarantee they'll cheer you up too, even on your gloomiest of days.

1 1/4 cups flour
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
6 ounces unsweetened chocolate, chopped
1 1/2 sticks salted butter
2 1/4 cups sugar
4 large eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
3/4 cup pecans

B) Preheat the oven to 325 degrees.

R) Melt the chocolate and butter in the microwave or on the stove over a pot of simmering water, and stir it until it's dreamy.

O) Add the eggs and mix it up after each addition (you can do a little jig during this part, if you'd like).

W) Then stir in the vanilla! You can dab a bit on your wrist like perfume.

N) Mix in the flour and baking powder. Then the pecans!

I) Pour pour pour the batter into a greased, square pan (8" x 8" I think), and scrape scrape scrape down the sides with a rubber spatula so that it all gets into the pan. You can also do a jig during this part, but I highly discourage this silly kind of behavior.

E) Bake it for about 30 to 35 minutes and do something else while it's in the oven so you don't go crazy with anticipation. For example, you could throw in a load of laundry, write a letter to someone, or call up your sister for a very overdue phone call.

S) Wait for them to cool (ish) and then cut them up and serve them to all of your eager family members. They're also delicious frozen.
