I must be a follower. It explains why I like coffee and chocolate and The Office, and also why I am copying SF's blog post idea.
I am going to recommend some movies as a non-aficionado. I do watch a lot of movies and television shows if that gives me any authority.
I guess my movie taste is quirky and bizarre like maple syrup splatter on a pancake that resembles Jesus' predictably Anglican face or the food in foreign markets where everything is different and intriguing, and sometimes so weird when you think about someone actually eating it.
And that is how my brain rants.
First off, everyone should watch "Monty Python & the Holy Grail." Why? Because it's a bloody classic, that's why.
My favorite line from the movie is"I'm not dead." Classic.
The dead collector is trying to collect the bodies to clear them out and this on poor chap is trying to hold on. He says "I'm getting better," "I feel fine," "I feel happy."
Mind you, this whole time he is just this muffled voice under a pile of plagued bodies, and the dead collector just keeps disagreeing with the man and saying no, you are dead, and if you aren't yet, you are very ill and will be soon.
Hilarious. Really, you need to see it for yourself.
Secondly, I recently watched "I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK." It was just, plain, adorable. So cute.
Watching it, I felt like my heart was drowning and gasping for air, which is how I feel when I am happy.
There are some parts of the movie that may be tough to get through, especially if you are like me and need to shove a blanket or fist in your mouth to bite down on when you see someone cutting their wrists. But seriously, it is worth it.
And it is a romance, which I do not usually like, so that I am recommending it is saying something. Something.
I also like movies when I see a bit of myself in them like Amelie has my short hair and Phoebe in Wonderland has my eyes and Joon has my nose. No, you know that is not what I mean.
One of the loveliest lines form Amelie is, "She cultivates a taste for small pleasures: dipping her hand into sacks of grain, cracking creme brulee with a teaspoon, and skipping stones at St. Martin's canal."
I feel like you can identify with these things even if you have not done them. Just the idea of those little things that give you satisfaction is relatable.
Amelie is timeless.
Other quirky, precious movies are Benny and Joon, Phoebe in Wonderland.
Other funny, bizarre movies are:
He was a Quiet Man
You guessed it, it stars a quiet man. But there is a twist.
Office Space
My favorite part of this movie is when the boss takes Milton's stapler.
The Perfect Host
A bit too many plot twists, but still great and so hilarious.
Now I am realizing, once I start thinking about movies, I remember how many I like.
This has been a Lauren Adamson post. I am only saying this to not confuse you. You're great!
